The Liver Life Challenge team understands the importance of
being properly trained to participate in endurance race events. The training program provided by the American
Liver Foundation combines group training and expert coaching to help
participants prepare for the race of their choice. Whether you have never run a
mile or are an experienced marathoner, the Liver Life Challenge training and
coaching program can provide valuable help in meeting your goals.
Liver Life Challenge team members receive several great training tools:
In 2014 the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend Liver Life Challenge team will benefit from the experience of National Coach, Brendan Cournane. Coach Brendan will provide guidance and support to local coaches and will act as the coach for Virtual Participants. Get to know Coach Brendan a little better in his bio below:
It was 1985, when I completed my first 26.2-mile run: the Chicago Marathon (then called America’s Marathon/Chicago). Steve Jones just missed a world record and Joan Benoit Samuelson set the American record that day. At the 22-mile mark I said to myself, “I will never do this again.”
In the years since that first marathon experience, I studied coaching techniques and philosophies, learned how to improve my performance and how to impart that knowledge to others.
My passion for running brought a desire to help others develop good running form not only to make the most of their runs, but to enjoy running. Since 1996, I have helped thousands of runners, run/walkers and walkers of all abilities and skill levels achieve their goals of successfully completing running events — from 5Ks through ultra-marathons. I have also helped many runners qualify for the Boston Marathon.
I am excited to be joining the American Liver Foundation’s Liver Life Challenge as he National Coach. I will provide support to local coaches and provide direct training to Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend Liver Life Challenge Virtual Team participants. I look forward to helping you along your journey to the finish line and your quest to raise funds to improve the lives of 30 million Americans with liver disease.
