Directions

All directions below are our best effort to get you to our key spots. Driving and parking in Boston are never easy, so you are encouraged to take public transportation when possible. The Big Dig often re-routes traffic, of course. We've tried to include nearby landmarks in directions below to help get you into the general vicinity if you do not know all the streets. Fear not, these places are all easy—the second time, anyway. Consulting a map, or visiting Mapquest, is always a good idea.

Monthly team meetings are held at the Westin, as well as our team group events on marathon weekend. The Westin is located in the Back Bay section of Boston at 10 Huntington Avenue, at the intersection of Stuart Street. Saint James Avenue also leads directly to the front entrance of the Westin. The lobby is on the second floor.

Parking is available at the Westin and in other nearby garages, at normal Boston rates (high). Street parking is unpredictable, but sometimes available.

Go two blocks on Beacon, then turn left on Clarendon Street. Go five blocks, turn right onto St. James Avenue. The Westin will be two blocks, on the left.

From the south: Take I-93 to Southeast Expressway to exit 20 (Mass Pike/Downtown). Follow signs for downtown. At bottom of ramp take left onto Kneeland Street and go six sets of lights. The Commuter Rail, with service to the south, also runs to Back Bay Station. Check the MBTA website for more details, maps, and schedules.

Landmarks: The Westin is located more or less halfway between the two tallest buildings in the Back Bay—the Prudential Building and the Hancock Tower. Copley Square and the back of the Boston Public Library are across the street from the Westin.

Woodland T stop

Washington Street (Route 16)
Newton, MA

Some of our Saturday morning runs begin at Woodland (most people meet at Fitcorp and take the train out to Woodland, but if you prefer to meet the group at Woodland instead, that's okay too). And many runners do informal Thursday nights runs (see training section) that begin at Woodland. We also use this spot as a meeting point for our long on-course runs late in training.

By subway: Take a D train on the Green Line from Boston. The D trains are also marked "Riverside." B, C and E trains do not go to Woodland, so make sure to get a D train. From Boston, expect a 30-45 minute ride, depending on time of day. From Boston, the fare is a $1 token. (Incidentally, in the other direction, from Woodland into the city, the fare is $2.50, which can be paid with two tokens and two quarters, or with 10 quarters. Token machines are found beside the track-there is no cashier or attendant at Woodland.)

By car: You can also drive to the Woodland T stop, which has a large parking lot ($2). The station is on Washington Street (Route 16), northeast of Beacon Street, near Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton. Woodland is convenient to I-95 and the Mass Pike. Check the MBTA website for a map.

Landmarks: The Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton is several blocks away. By the way, on marathon day RFR spectators sometimes congregate near the hospital to cheer on team members.
