This November I am running the ING NYC Marathon as part of the Liver Life Challenge, an athletic fundraising program that supports the American Liver Foundation. I specifically choose to support this charity in honor of my father, Joseph, who passed away from liver cancer this past summer.
Why I am Running the Marathon
I decided to run the marathon to honor my dad and fundraise for the American Liver Foundation. Training for a marathon is more physically and mentally exhausting than I could have ever imagined, but I could not be more excited to run this race to raise money for liver disease and remember my dad. My dad was always my biggest cheerleader when I ran in high school and college, and I know he would be proud of this running endeavor!
What the American Liver Foundation Does
The mission of the American Liver Foundation is to facilitate, advocate and promote education, support and research for the prevention, treatment and cure of liver disease. I have pledged to raise $6,000 for this cause not only in memory of my father but also for the 30 million Americans who are also impacted by liver disease.
