My climb is complete! You helped me meet my fundraising goal and I made it to the top of Mt. Shasta and back down in one piece. Thank you very much for your help and support! I am looking forward to doing this again next year!

Thank you for taking the time to visit and read through this page!

This year I am doing something different - I am training to climb Mount Shasta for the first time in my life and in doing so I am fundraising to help 30 million people living with liver disease.  Turns out that being healthy, helping people and climbing volcanoes go well together.

Here is how this fundraising thing is going to work - Mt. Shasta climb involves an elevation gain of about 2500 meters. My fundraising goal is $2500. That's one dollar for one meter of altitude. Look at that progress meter to the right of this text - that's how high I am going to be able to scale up that mountain.

This is where I need your help. Your donation to the American Liver Foundation will be my motivation to keep walking. My personal promise to you is to climb one meter up for every dollar donated on this page. Here is where your money will take me:

  • The first wave of donations will help the Foundation provide community-based education on liver health and will get me hiking out of Bunny Flats area to the base camp.
  • The next few hundred will provide support and advocacy to help prevent and treat liver disease and will get me up at 1 AM to start walking out of the base camp and up towards Avalanche Gulch.
  • Every dollar you donate will support medical research into diagnosing, treating and protecting the liver, all while keeping me walking into the sunrise and towards Thumb Rock and beyond.
  • If that bar makes it past the half point, I will make it up past Helen Lake.
  • Three quarters to the goal? I'll get to experience Misery Hill. Don't make me stop there.
  • The last few hundreds will leave me no choice but to keep putting one foot in front of the other all the way up past the Summit Plateau and will provide the necessary funding to keep ALF getting us closer to a world without liver disease.

Are you ready to donate yet? Stop reading and click that purple “Donate” button on the right.

Not convinced yet? Ask yourself these three questions:

  1. Imagine we are in a bar together. Would you get me a drink? Thank you, but I am not drinking until after this climb. Please take this money and donate them here on my behalf. I'll join you in the bar for a glass of water now and I will get you a drink later this summer.
  2. Keep that bar picture in your head. Are you about to get yourself your fourth martini? Consider a glass of water and a donation instead. Your liver, along with 30 million other livers, will thank you.
  3. Lastly, imagine if I asked you for a quarter to feed the meter. Would you spare me some change? Thank you. Now imagine that quarter request 20 times ($5 is the minimum donation) and feed the research.

A fiver may not look like much, and it may not look significant on the scale of my goal, but think what a five-meter climb looks like on Shasta.

Give me a boost please?

Thank you for supporting the Mt. Shasta Climb 2014 on June 13-16, 2014!
