Fundraising Honor Roll

Hi everyone!

So I like to run. Wait...I LOVE to run. Most of you know that. I wanted to run the Chicago Marathon this year and I thought...why just run it again, why not help and get involved in the communty at the same time. I've been working as an RN with patients with liver disease for almost 10 years now and I wanted to support these individuals in another way. So I decided to participate in the Liver Life Challenge. The Liver Life Challenge is an endurance sport training program that helps people like me train for a race while supporting the mission of the American Liver Foundation. And they have a nice tent and good food at the end of the race too, haha.

Did you know:

  • Liver cancer is one of the few primary cancers on the rise in the United States. (Booooo)
  • Approximately 5.4 million Americans are chronically infected with hepatitis B or hepatitis C. About 65% and 75% , respectively, are unaware that they are infected. (That's the scariest part; most people don't even know they have it!)
  • It is estimated that up to 25% of the U.S. population could have Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease--a condition that can lead to life-threatening damage. (Let's get that 25% to run the Chicago Marathon!)

By making a donation on my behalf, you will be helping the Foundation provide community-based education, research, support, and advocacy to help prevent and treat liver disease.

Donating is easy! Just click the "Donate" button to get started.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you for your donation!

Thank you for supporting the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on October 12, 2014!

The Liver Life Challenge is a celebration of my commitment to a world free of liver disease. Please help me make that goal a reality! I support the American Liver Foundation® because it:

  • Advocates on behalf of 30 million Americans with liver disease on the federal, state, and local levels.
  • Provides education programs, support services, and outreach activities that reach more than 200,000 individuals annually and raise awareness on liver disease prevention and management.
  • Is the largest non-governmental supporter of liver disease research in the U.S. and since 1979, the American Liver Foundation Research Awards Program has provided more than $24 million to more than 750 qualified scientists and physicians.
