Walk for Fun?Walk for Life!
My son Giovanni was born June 14, 2007. Shortly after his birth, and after weeks of hospitalizations and testing, he was diagnosed with Biliary Atresia, a rare and incurable liver disease.
At six weeks of age, Giovanni underwent the Kasai procedure aimed at alleviating the immediate, devastating effects of the disease. Now almost six years old, we are thankful that he is doing well. However, we realize that the disease is progressing and that there is an overwhelming chance he will require a liver transplant at some point in his life.
Obviously, this is a very personal cause for me and I'm proud to help the American Liver Foundation in the fight against liver disease. Your support of the Liver Life Walk will go a long way toward the continued advances in understanding and treating Biliary Atresia as well as all liver disease.
This year's walk will be held on Saturday, May 11th at the Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia. As always, we are walking for Giovanni, and for the hope that he has continued good health. We're also walking to raise awareness about Biliary Atresia, and to help find a cure for the disease. Lastly, we're walking in support of all the children living with liver disease, and for those who care for them.
Donating is easy! Just click the 'Click Here to Sponsor Me' button below G's picture. You can also forward checks made out to ALF to: American Liver Foundation Mid-Atlantic Division,1341 N.
