Welcome to Team Benny
IN MEMORY OF BENNY CATALANO
On May 20, 2009 my husband, Benny, lost his battle with liver disease. "Team Benny" was formed in 2010 with our dear friend, Gina, as Team Captain. Gina's husband and Benny's Bandmate, Bob, serves as Co-Captain.
After fighting liver disease for many years, Benny received a living donor transplant in 2005 from his Angel - his niece, Angela. Although Benny suffered many complications after the transplant, Benny never gave up hope. He treasured every day. Then 4 1/2 years after receiving that wonderful "gift of life" from his Angel, we were told that Benny's liver cancer had returned. Another transplant could not be done and Benny lost his battle with liver disease.
Although Benny's path was often difficult, Benny loved life to the fullest. He always had a joke, a smile, or kind word for everyone. His family and friends meant everything to him. He had been given the "Gift of Life" from his niece, Angela, and he never took that for granted.
Benny's favorite movie was "It's a Wonderful Life" and he lived by the creed from that movie "that no man is a failure who has friends." Anyone who knew Benny, knew that he had a "Wonderful Life." Benny touched so many people in so many ways, as they touched him. We all have our "Benny Stories" that will live in our hearts forever.
Please help us in our fight against liver disease by supporting Team Benny. Liver disease affects so many people. Young, old, or in between - liver disease doesn't care. Your support will help us win this fight.
I hope you can join us in us at the Liver Walk as a member of Team Benny. If not, your donation will help us win this battle. I lost my love, my life, my Benny to liver disease. With your support, hopefully, one day someone else might not have to lose their battle.
Benny will be walking with us -- you will feel him in the breeze, see him on the smiling faces, hear him in a laugh. Benny will be there surrounding us with his love.
