This is my second year participating in the Philadelphia Liver Walk.  As many of you know that my husband Chris received a liver transplant in August 2011.  This came after several unsuccessful treatments for Hepatitis C and developing liver cancer.  The transplant was a success but Chris still has Hepatitis C.  After six months, the Hepatitis C began to aggressively attack his new liver.  So in March 2012 he started another round of drugs that included a new drug.  This go around the treatment seems to be working.  He has tested negative for Hepatitis C for seven straight tests and will be completing his treatment this May.  The doctors believe that he may have finally beat Hepatitis C!!

I am thankful to my family and friends who have continued to support me during this difficult time.  I am also extremely appreciative of the wonderful family whose loved one donated their liver to Chris.

Unfortunately, Chris is not the only one who has suffered from liver disease ? 30 million Americans are personally affected by liver disease. We are walking so that those suffering from liver disease can benefit from the critical funding for medical research, public education, patient support services, and advocacy that is accomplished by the money raised. Please support our cause by donating or joining us as we pound the pavement to change the face of liver health! Every single dollar counts, even $1.
