NEW IN 2013 - VIVA EL HIGADO!!!
The innaugural Cinco de Mayo/Viva el Higado (long live the liver!) fundraising party will be held this year on May 11, 2013 at Marshfield Country Club in Marshfield, WI. The event is being graciously hosted by Chip Acker, Owner - MCC, and will be put on by Anne & Thom Clement. This will be a smashing good time and a wonderful effort to fundraise for the ALF and our Liver Life Walk team!
Due to Chip's and Anne & Thom's generosity, we're able to offer a great meal with drinks (margaritas, beer), at a great location ( www.golfmcc.com ), for just $25 per person...and the net proceeds are ALL going to the American Liver Foundation!!! Chip is also offering our guests an awesome golf dea: $25 for all you can play with a cart !
BACKGROUND INFO / TIPS PROCEDURE
As most of you know, a situation arose in 2010 which brought liver health to the forefront of my attention - and the attention of all my family and friends. It has now been two years since the work of a brilliant surgeon and medical staff saved my life. I thank God for that.
The surgical procedure I underwent is called a TIPS procedure (Trans-jugular, Intra-hepatic, Porto-systemic, Shunt). Mine was particularly difficult and unorthodox. My surgeon - Dr. William Rilling (of Medical College of WI; head of Interventional Radiology at Froedert) - is one of the most excellent and accomplished doctors in this field. It was due to his creativity and determination that a solution to a very difficult set of anatomical complications was achieved.
I am healthy and happy now. The most difficult part of my ordeal was the lack of a proper, timely diagnosis. It is with this in mind that I strive to help the American Liver Foundation. The ALF helps provide research and education which can save people's lives and lessen the pain and trauma of their liver ailments.
LIVER LIFE WALK
This is year three for my team's participation in the Liver Life Walk. Last year we had 14 adult and 5 child walkers and as a team we raised nearly over $2,000! This year we would like to have 20 participants and raise at least $2,500!!
This is a challenging goal, but with your help I'm sure we can accomplish it. I believe deeply in this cause and appreciate your generosity. Keep in mind all this money will go toward our local ALF's efforts to provide education and support for the many people's lives who have been touched by some form of Liver disease or illness.

Every step I take and every dollar I raise will make a difference in the lives of the 30 million Americans living with liver disease. By making a donation on my behalf, you will be helping the American Liver Foundation provide community-based education and prevention programs, protect the rights of people with liver disease, and fund critical research.
By making a donation you'll take me one step closer to my goal and take all of us another stride closer to a world free of liver disease!
