was diagnosed in October 2011 with stage 4 liver failure/disease. This disease was the result of a blood transfusion at birth. Her mother Bonnie Morgan was a 1965 kidney transplant who was told at a very young age she would not be able to have children because of her kidney health issues. After undergoing a successful transplant (from her mom-kims grandma) she was told she could start thinking of a family. Kimberly was born March 15, 1968 at University Colorado Hospital in Denver. (First baby born from a kidney transplant patient in the US and handful in the world) Due to the complications of medications her mom needed to take to keep her kidney functioning, Kim had begun a sleep sickness and was going through withdrawals from no longer getting her mothers medications. The doctors performed a blood transfusion to both her and her mother to help both of them in their conditions. This blood was tainted with the HEP C virus. Because no screening was yet performed on donor blood, both Kim and her mom were infected with this virus. 2006 Kim lost her mom due to liver failure and not wanting to undergo another transplant. Kim has undergone dual therapy which consists of very harsh medicine last year. She did not respond to this treatment and is currently waiting the next chapter... A CURE for HVC or a Transplant ~
