Team Maddox

 Meet my son Maddox!

He loves everything superhero, soccer, school, and his dog Ruha. Maddox has Primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), a chronic liver disease caused by progressive inflammation and scarring of the bile ducts of the liver. Combined with his diagnoses of Ulcerative Colitis, my young son has a fight ahead of him! Although Maddox's battle to gain weight started at birth, he started showing other symptoms in late 2011. Through multiple screenings, labs and a diagnosis of Celiac Disease he went though a second endoscopy and colonoscopy to reveal Ulcerative Colitis, inflammation of the colon. This led to more labs, revealing that he would have to have a liver biopsy. We learned that Maddox had PSC in early 2012. There are no treatments, no medications and no studies being done due to the fact that children this young simply don't have this condition. We are blessed to have a wonderful pediatrician, Dr. Michelle Fiscus and phenomenal pediatric gastroenterologist, Dr. Lynette Gillis who have helped us every step of the way....and we have many more steps to go.

Your donation can make it possible for this untreatable disease to one day be treatable. Maddox will need a transplant once he develops cirrhosis and/or cancer. Although we can not put a time frame on when he will need a new liver, I am blessed to say that I have a happy boy who loves life....but not his medicine....yuck!

By making a donation you'll take Team Maddox one step closer to our goal and take all of us another stride closer to a world free of liver disease!
