Many of you who will visit my page know why the Liver Life Walk tugs at my heart strings, for those of you who do not, let me share the story with you of my beautiful Em...
A long time ago, I was a city girl that was moved to a little country town. Upon the purchase of our family's first home, I found the girl that would help in the acclamation of my new life living one mile down the road. Emily taught me how to exist in an unfamiliar world. She instructed me on the ins and outs of farming life. Where to step when you go get the cows, where not to step when you are in the barn, and most importantly to check your boots for mice BEFORE you put them on. Our days were spent playing with siblings, running spy adventures, and riding our bikes. She once bandaged my bloodied knee over her bathroom sink and every time I see the scar I think of my brave Em. As we grew older we traded our bikes for boys and makeup and nights of choreographing dances in her living room. Emily was outspoken and self-assured. She was brave enough to tell you exactly what you needed to hear, even if you didn't want to hear it. She knew exactly who she was and what she wanted out of life. While I was busy deciding which boy to be in love with for the week, she was dreaming of the babies she knew she would someday have. As fate would have it, we were both blessed with our babies and we begin our days with their beautiful smiling faces and the support of the men we love. Through the eyes of a stranger Emily has lived a typical life, but to those who love her, we realize her journey has been so much more. Emily was born with Biliary Atresia, a liver disease that has no cure. Throughout Emily's life she has bravely battled this disease and continually lived her life to the fullest. As her battle continues and as she awaits a liver transplant her symptoms grow worse. Emily's friends and family share a common goal, to one day see Emily live a long healthy life, free from the daily struggles of her disease.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my page. I would love for you to "Sponsor Me" as I participate in the Liver Life Walk in honor of my beautiful Emily...
