April 15, 2013.  Another Boston Marathon brings another opportunity to raise $ and awareness for the American Liver Foundation by being a part in the Run for Research team!

This team is amazing.    Keith and I are honored to be a part of the team and to make a difference to those living with liver disease by making the trek from Hopkinton to Boston on that fateful day in April.  Last year it was 90 degrees and getting across the finish line was not a given for anyone but somehow, (with the knowledge that so many people were supporting us) we were both able to do so.  This year, marathon Monday will bring its own twists and turns and we will take every step proudly for the American Liver Foundation.

This cause is personal.  Keith, has a rare liver disease known as Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis, which gradually decreases liver function and ultimately requires a liver transplant for survival.  We never imagined we would have to incorporate chronic illness and the future need for a liver transplant into our day to day lives, but now we do.  Through the past few years, the ALF has become an important part of our lives and we are committed to do everything we can to help them achieve their mission:  To prevent, treat and cure liver diseases through research, education and advocacy.

So here's the deal.  We will do the running on April 15, 2013 and we ask you to consider supporting us.  Together, we can make a difference.   There will come moments in the run where thoughts of everyone who supports the cause will be what propels us to the next mile marker.  Marathon's aren't easy, but that's the thing, nothing worthwhile ever is.  And for us, this cause is worth every step on that 26.2 mile course.

We respectfully ask for your support.  Any contribution, no matter the size, is appreciated greatly.  Every $ counts and we genuinely thank you for your support.  It means a lot to have friends and family standing behind us along the way to Boston!

Thank you for supporting the Run for Research 2013 on April 15, 2013!

The Liver Life Challenge is a celebration of my commitment to a world free of liver disease. Please help me make that goal a reality! I support the American Liver Foundation® because it:

  • Advocates on behalf of 30 million Americans with liver disease on the federal, state, and local levels.
  • Provides education programs, support services, and outreach activities that reach more than 200,000 individuals annually and raise awareness on liver disease prevention and management.
  • Is the largest non-governmental supporter of liver disease research in the U.S. and since 1979, the American Liver Foundation Research Awards Program has provided more than $24 million to more than 750 qualified scientists and physicians.
