Fundraising Honor Roll

Last year I attempted to run my first marathon. Foiled by the heat, I bowed out at mile 17. While I was disappointed that I couldn't finish the race, I looked at it like this: I trained for several months and proved to myself that I could overcome injury and run 21 miles, I made tons of new friends, and (with your help) I raised $8002 for the American Liver Foundation. All in all, that pesky race was only a few miserable hours in an otherwise spectacular year!!

So this year I'm going to do it again! While I'm hoping for an injury-free season and 50-degree weather on race day, no matter what happens I'll consider 2013 a success if I can make a significant contribution to improving the lives of the more than 30 million Americans living with liver disease.

Did you know...

  • 1 in 10 Americans have one of the 100+ forms of liver disease.
  • In 2010, over 16,000 individuals were on the waiting list for a liver transplant... and only 5,281 received one.
  • Liver disease is the 4th leading cause of death in the United States between the ages of 45 and 54 years.
  • Liver cancer is one of the few primary cancers on the rise in the United States.

Please join me in helping the American Liver Foundation provide community-based education, research, support, and advocacy related to helping prevent and treat liver disease.

  • Provides education programs, support services, and outreach activities that reach more than 200,000 individuals annually and raise awareness on liver disease prevention and management.
  • Is the largest non-governmental supporter of liver disease research in the U.S. and since 1979, the American Liver Foundation Research Awards Program has provided more than $24 million to more than 750 qualified scientists and physicians.
