Fundraising Honor Roll

Hi all,

As many of you will be aware I have become something of a marathon junkie in recent years... So far with the help of colleagues, friends, family and the Autonomous Trust, I have run marathons for charities based in both the UK and USA benefitting disadvantaged children, cancer patients and research and AIDS / HIV sufferers.

For my next challenge I am planning to run my fourth marathon, in Boston, in April 2013. There are clearly quite a few worthy causes out there but this time the stand out charity for me was to run for liver disease and research. This is an area that will touch many of us and our families. The Liver Foundation conducts research into areas such as liver cancer, cirrhosis, hepatitis and a broad range of other aspects. It's a charity that benefits people on the ground in Boston and the USA, where I'm running, but their research also goes to help those in the UK and beyond. In my mind it's a very worthy cause.

So why am I running Boston as opposed to somewhere closer to home? I ran my first marathon in New York and after suffering for at least half of it and then hobbling around for the next couple of days, I decided that running all 5 of the world marathon majors, consisting of Berlin, Boston, Chicago, London and New York would be a suitably challenging and unlikely goal for me to achieve. Two years down the road and I have ticked off three of the five. I recently ran Chicago in a new PB of 3'24 and next on the "to do" list is the oldest, most challenging and arguably most presitigious marathon, Boston.

So this is where y'all come in... I'm sure you get many sponsorship requests for many worthy causes and daring feats. That said I would be grateful for anything you can spare, no matter how big or small, in helping me to achieve this challenging personal goal for such a deserving cause.

Many thanks

Ashley
