In the past year, as most of you know (and as a few of you have told me), I have become addicted to running and achieving a higher level of overall health and fitness.  I will freely admit that I will never be the fastest and there's a very good chance that I won't really get any better, but I feel great in both mind and spirit and now I want to make a difference.

Unfortunately, as is the case with many others, I have been directly and deeply affected by liver disease and have seen the unimaginable destruction left in it's wake.  In 2007 my Dad passed away very suddenly from cancer of the liver.    Seeing firsthand the speed, ferocity, and devastating effects of this disease affected me profoundly.  The memory of feeling helpless as I watched it take him is something I live with every day.  Those feelings will never leave me.   In some ways those memories make me stronger. 

I am excited and honored to announce that on Monday, April 15 2013 I will be running the Boston Marathon for the American Liver Foundation's 25th Anniversary Run For Research Team!

While a big one, this prestigious event will only be the first step in what I hope to be a long term involvement with this wonderful and extremely important cause.  It will be incredibly inspirational and motivating to know that every step I take as a part of the Liver Life Challenge truly makes a difference in the lives of others..  I  also believe that each of those steps is one more step in my own healing process.

Everyone has been so phenomenal in their support of me.  From the first mile in October 2011 to the last few steps of my first marathon this past September.   Your kind words, encouragement, and interest in my progress have been instrumental in my desire to keep pushing.   It is now I ask that you give me your support once again.

By making a donation on my behalf, you will be helping the Foundation provide community-based education, research, support, and advocacy related to help prevent and treat liver disease.  Together we can make a difference and it's as simple as helping me reach my fundraising goal.
