Fundraising Honor Roll

Dear Family and Friends,

My husband, Todd, and I are training for the Boston Marathon and running on behalf of the American Liver Foundation.  This  is a charity that is very special to us as our 7 month old niece was born with liver disease and is on the liver transplant list.  The fundraising efforts of ALF runners, like us, produce more than a million dollars each year for important liver research.

Did you know one in ten Americans is affected by liver disease?  We have learned that there are over one hundred different types of liver disease that affect men, women, and even infants.   The money we raise will be allocated for liver disease research, education for this commuinity and advocacy for individuals living with liver disease.  Participating on this team is not only motivating and fun, but it gives us a wonderful feeling to dedicate our training to such a great cause.  Our connection to the cause, and to the patients in need of help, will help make our 26.2 run an even greater accomplishment.

We have set a goal to raise $10,000 by race day and need your help to get to the finish line.

Help us to help 30 million Americans.

A world free of liver disease! That is why we are participating in the Liver Life Challenge. The Liver Life Challenge is an endurance sport training program that helps people like us train for a race while supporting the mission of the American Liver Foundation.

Every step we take and every dollar we raise will make a diference in the lives of more than 30 million Americans living with liver disease.

Did you know:

  • Liver cancer is one of the few primary cancers on the rise in the United States.
  • Approximately 5.4 million Americans are chronically infected with hepatitis B or hepatitis C. About 65% and 75% , respectively, are unaware that they are infected.
  • It is estimated that up to 25% of the U.S. population could have Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease--a condition that can lead to life-threatening damage.

  • Provides education programs, support services, and outreach activities that reach more than 200,000 individuals annually and raise awareness on liver disease prevention and management.
  • Is the largest non-governmental supporter of liver disease research in the U.S. and since 1979, the American Liver Foundation Research Awards Program has provided more than $24 million to more than 750 qualified scientists and physicians.
