We're running to fight liver disease!
|
My Story
Liver disease, in one form or another, has afflicted and severely affected numerous family, friends, and colleagues in my life so much so that I decided to take on the challenge of training for my 4th race, the 2010 Boston Marathon and 5th race, 2010 Chicago Marathon, while helping the American Liver Foundation in the fight against liver disease.
The fight against liver disease is a fight that I take seriously. We've already seen the second largest December snowfall this winter in the mid-atlantic region which means I have many blistering cold runs in front of me but it will only make me stronger when I put on the Run for Research orange jersey!
Like the marathon, our battle with liver disease is a race against the clock. Many forms of liver disease are preventable, and many more can be treated effectively if detected early meaning my sacrifice is all about raising awareness and inspiring others to make a financial sacrifice that will go toward conducting research. Did you know that liver cancer is one of the few cancers on the rise in the United States today?
By making a donation you'll take me one step closer to my aggressive goal of $3,300 in 110 days (just think ... that's a little less than $30 per day) and take all of us another stride closer to a world free of liver disease! Your generous gift will help the American Liver Foundation provide research, education, and advocacy to assist the 30 million people affected by liver disease in the United States.
